$8,000,000.00 Settlement for a Man Injured When Struck by a Runway High Rail Crane
On July 10, 2004, Luis Cevaseo, was performing his duties as a Project Manager for an engineering firm and was positioned on a flat bed high rail vehicle located in the East River tunnel in Queens, New York, when a high rail crane owned, operated and controlled by AMTRACK was caused to crash into the flat bed high rail vehicle on which Mr. Cevasco was working, causing him to sustain severe and disabling injuries. Suit was instituted against the National Railroad Passenger Corp. (AMTRACK) in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Thereafter, several other parties were cited in as defendants in the action. On September 11, 2008, following a second day of mediation, the case settled for $8,000,000.00.
