On July 14, 2005, Ismael Sturce, a resident of Staten Island, New York, was performing masonry work on a chimney during construction at a house in New Canaan, Connecticut, when he was suddenly caused to fall off the roof, holding onto the roof with his fingertips for a brief moment, before landing on the ground and resulting in his death. Suit was instituted against the general contractor and the project manager in Bridgeport Superior Court. The case settled for $1,000,000.00 following a lengthy mediation.
